Carpenter / Trades Assistant
Location: Central Coast (travel required to Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and Hunter sites)
Type: Ongoing — casual to start, moving to regular hours based on project pipeline
Day-to-day: framing, formwork, roofing, cladding, internal fitout, decking, fencing, doors and windows. You'll work across residential builds and renovations, commercial fitouts, and government-funded construction projects.
Apprentice Carpenter
Location: Central Coast (home base, travel across region)
Type: TAFE NSW-registered apprenticeship
We take apprenticeships seriously. You'll be trained on real projects — residential homes, commercial sites, and where appropriate, government and Defence projects. We work with you on your TAFE schedule and give you hands-on experience across the full range of carpentry trades.
Sub-contractors
We regularly engage reliable sub-contractors across the following trades for our project pipeline:
- Carpentry and joinery — framing, roofing, cladding, fitout
- Painting and decorating — interior and exterior, commercial and residential
- Flooring — timber, laminate, vinyl, tile
- Plumbing and electrical coordination — we work with licensed trades we trust
- Concreting and formwork — slabs, paths, driveways
Sub-contractors must hold appropriate licences, insurance (minimum $10M public liability), and ABN. We pay on time — always. If you want to know more about how we run sites and what working with us looks like, reach out and we'll have a conversation.

Who we're looking for
For employees and apprentices
- Trade qualification, or enrolled in apprenticeship (for apprentice roles)
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Own hand tools (we provide power tools and site equipment)
- Comfortable working across multiple sites and environments — including secure facilities where site access and background checks are required
- Reliable, quality-focused, and a team player
For sub-contractors
- Relevant trade licence and insurances
- ABN registered
- Capacity to provide SWMS and WHS documentation
- References from recent projects
- Ability to pass background checks for secure-site projects (Defence, justice)
About the company
Koori Constructions is a NSW builder, Supply Nation registered, and eligible to contribute toward agency IPP targets on NSW and Commonwealth government contracts. We hold an unrestricted NSW Builder Licence (477499C) and HIA membership (1375563). Our project history includes Communities & Justice NSW (Frank Baxter Youth Justice Centre), Thales via Barpa, and AHO-funded community housing. We work across residential builds and renovations, commercial fitouts, Defence subcontract work, health and community facilities, and government-funded construction across NSW.
We're based on the Central Coast and work across Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and the Hunter. For government-funded projects, we work across NSW as a sub-contractor to tier-1 head contractors.
