Health Sector Construction

Koori Constructions builds health facilities where cultural safety, accessibility, and clinical compliance converge. We partner with Aboriginal Medical Services, community health organisations, and tier-1 head contractors to deliver clinic fitouts, aged care expansions, and disability-accessible modifications across NSW — 100% Aboriginal-owned, procurement-ready, and deeply committed to health equity for First Nations communities.

Health Facilities We Build

Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS)

Clinic fitouts, consulting rooms, pathology/treatment spaces, reception areas, and culturally safe waiting rooms. We understand AMS stakeholder expectations: community consultation, Aboriginal employment pathways, and designs that centre cultural safety alongside clinical function.

Community Health Centres

Refurbishments, accessibility upgrades (AS 1428.1 compliant ramps, doorways, bathrooms), infection-control finishes (vinyl flooring, IPS panels, cleanable surfaces), and staged handovers that minimise service disruption.

Aged Care & Disability

Aged care facility expansions, dementia-specific spaces, NDIS SDA builds, and home modifications (grab rails, level-access showers, wider doorways). We deliver to NDIS SDA Design Standard, Aged Care Quality Standards, and client care-plan requirements.

Maintenance & Compliance

Scheduled maintenance, fire-door upgrades, handrail replacement, waterproofing wet areas, and urgent repairs. We hold current insurances, inductions, and police checks suitable for occupied health facilities.

Why Health Organisations Choose Koori

  • Cultural safety embedded in delivery. Brad Robinson is a Dunghutti and Wiradjuri man raised on Darkinjung Country. We understand why AMS waiting rooms need cultural artwork, why stakeholder consultation timelines matter, and why Aboriginal employment on health builds is more than a checkbox — it's trust.
  • 100% Aboriginal-owned, Supply Nation certified. Eligible for direct Indigenous procurement, IPP compliance on federal health contracts, and Aboriginal participation targets on NSW Health Infrastructure projects.
  • Proven health-sector track record. Eleanor Duncan AMS Mardi Clinic ($56k fitout), Awabakal Aged Care (maintenance), Bara Barang (community health spaces) — we've delivered for Aboriginal-controlled health organisations that demand cultural accountability alongside build quality.
  • Infection control & clinical compliance. We specify and install infection-control-rated materials (IPS wall panels, welded vinyl, antimicrobial paint), meet ventilation/exhaust requirements, and hand over with O&M manuals + material safety data sheets for facility managers.
  • Unrestricted NSW building licence. Licence 477499C means no project-value ceiling, no scope restrictions — we can price and deliver health fitouts from $20k maintenance scopes to $500k+ new clinic builds.

How We Work on Health Projects

  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Cultural Protocols. Before mobilisation, we meet with community stakeholders, understand cultural protocols (e.g. gender-specific spaces, smoking ceremonies, artwork commissioning), and align delivery with community expectations.
  2. Design & Compliance Review. We review architectural plans for AS 1428.1 accessibility, infection-control material specs, and clinical-equipment coordination (pathology sinks, vaccine fridges, consulting-room data). We flag buildability issues early.
  3. Pricing & Procurement Pathway. We price lump-sum or schedule-of-rates. For AMS direct engagement, we offer cultural-accountability KPIs (Aboriginal employment %, local supply chain). For tier-1 subcontract, we align with head-contract reporting.
  4. Staged Delivery & Minimal Disruption. Health facilities often remain operational during construction. We stage works by zone (e.g. close east wing, maintain west wing services), communicate with facility managers daily, and hand over room-by-room if required.
  5. Handover, Training & Warranty. We provide O&M manuals, warranties, defects register, and on-site walk-through training for facility staff (e.g. how to maintain vinyl welded joints, fire-door mechanisms). 12-month defects liability standard.
