Frank Baxter Youth Justice Centre
NSW government youth detention facility maintenance
Project Overview
Koori Constructions delivered carpentry and maintenance works at the Frank Baxter Youth Justice Centre in Kariong, a secure detention facility operated by NSW Communities & Justice. The works were delivered as a subcontractor to Dotbuild, the head contractor for ongoing facility maintenance.
The project required compliance with strict security protocols, coordination with Youth Justice NSW operational staff, and adherence to government construction standards for custodial environments. All works were completed within the facility's live operational context with zero security incidents.
Scope of Works
- Internal carpentry repairs to accommodation units and common areas
- Door and window hardware maintenance and upgrades
- Security fixture repairs and replacements
- Wall and ceiling repairs to damaged surfaces
- Painting and surface finishing to internal spaces
- Compliance with NSW Government security clearance and site access protocols
- Coordination with Youth Justice operational staff to minimise disruption
Outcomes
All maintenance works were completed on time and within budget, meeting the stringent security and compliance standards required for government custodial facilities. The project demonstrated Koori Constructions' capability to deliver government construction works in high-security environments, working collaboratively with tier-1 head contractors and government agencies.
