Newcastle council & CDC compliance

Newcastle falls under City of Newcastle Council jurisdiction. Key approvals pathways:

• CDC (Complying Development): Granny flats under 60m² on blocks over 450m² typically qualify, unless in heritage conservation area (common in The Hill, Hamilton, parts of Merewether). We coordinate private certifier and engineering.
• DA (Development Application): Required for granny flats in heritage areas, new builds, or large extensions. We prepare all documentation and coordinate with City of Newcastle Council.
