Our Country

We work on Darkinjung, Awabakal, and Wonnarua lands — the Traditional Country of the Central Coast, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Hunter regions

Koori Constructions operates across three distinct Aboriginal nations in the NSW Central Coast and Hunter regions. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of these lands — the Darkinjung, Awabakal, and Wonnarua peoples — and recognise their continuing connection to Country, culture, and community.

Understanding whose Country we work on isn't a formality — it's part of how we do business. We name the Traditional Owners in every quote, every contract, and every conversation. We prioritise Aboriginal employment and subcontractor opportunities. And we work to ensure that building on Country means building with Country.

Our Commitment to Country

Working on Aboriginal Country means:

  • Acknowledging Traditional Owners in every contract and quote — we name the specific Aboriginal nation whose Country the project sits on.
  • Prioritising Aboriginal employment — we actively recruit Aboriginal carpenters, labourers, apprentices, and subcontractors from the regions we work in.
  • Supporting Aboriginal businesses — where possible, we engage Aboriginal-owned subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Cultural awareness and respect — our team receives cultural awareness training and understands the importance of respecting sites of cultural significance.
  • Community investment — we sponsor local Aboriginal sports teams, support community events, and contribute to scholarship and training programs for Aboriginal young people entering the building trades.
